January is School Board Appreciation Month! This is a great time to focus on our Fairfield elected board of education members' crucial role in our communities and school district. They are extraordinary people who voluntarily tackle the enormous job of governing school districts. Their actions and decisions affect the present and future lives of our children. If you see one of our board members this month, please thank them for what they do! Thank you Seth Beck, Darren Busick, Jim Combs, Eric Kennedy, Jason Smyth, Steve Westfahl, and Derek Zongker!

!!Attention Elementary Parents!!
Until further notice, Mrs. Evans will be posted in the high school office due to the absence of Mrs. Ketchum. If you need to drop something off for your child, drop off or pick up your child, or need access to the building, please use the high school office. The elementary doors will no longer be used as an entrance. If you need to contact the office, you can still contact the elementary phone number at 620-596-2020. This will take effect Tuesday January 18, 2022.

For Fairfield students in the Sylvia area needing Internet services for next week's Remote Learning (Tuesday through Friday), the Pleasant Hill Church of the Nazarene will be providing free WIFI service to do schoolwork. Please contact FES Music Teacher Mr. James Davis for more information at jdavis@usd310.org and thank you to this church for helping out our students!

If your child is absent today, remote learning materials will be available for pick up on Monday the 17th from 1:00-3:30 pm. Elementary classroom teachers will send a note home with students if they DO NOT have all materials and if you will need to come Monday.

Student Meals Available During Remote Learning
Fairfield Food Service Director Jaqui Conrad has announced that student meals will be available for pick-up during next week’s four days of remote learning. Please contact Mrs. Conrad on Monday, 1/17/21, before 2:00 pm to place your order for the week. Meals for USD #310 students will be free, but we need you to pre-order so we can have the food ready for you. Meals may be picked up on Tuesday, 1/18/22, through Friday, 1/21/22, from 11:00 am until noon. We will be looking for you and you can also ring the bell by the back door at the southeast corner of the kitchen. Family members can pick up student meals without the students being present. If you want meals next week, please contact Jaqui at jconrad@usd310.org or you can call the kitchen at 620-596-2007. Remember to let her know before Monday at 2 pm. Also this is not for Friday, 1/14/22 or Monday, 1/17/22; there will be no meals available those days due to no school Friday and Teacher In-service on Monday.

Due to COVID, all after-school activities are cancelled for today, tomorrow, and all of next week. Also there will be NO SCHOOL tomorrow as well as Monday (previously scheduled Teacher In-service.) In addition, we will shift to REMOTE LEARNING for Tuesday, January 18th through Friday, January 21st.
COVID has hit us hard at Fairfield among students and staff, and the situation has become unsustainable because of so many adults and students gone due to the rapid spread of the virus. Here are the changes you need to know about for tomorrow and next week.
Tomorrow, Friday, January 14th, there will be no school for anyone except janitorial staff so that we can deep clean the building. It will be treated like a snow day.
Monday, January 17th, will remain a teacher in-service day without students.
The rest of next week, Tuesday through Friday, there will be no classes held on campus at Fairfield. Students will work remotely from home. Younger students will have packets and older students will continue to use Google Classroom as they have been doing. Teachers who are not sick or quarantined will be working from campus. We will release more details about everything on Monday, and provide you with pick-up times for school work. Older students will bring home devices today. Students may also bring home workbooks and textbooks that they could need next week. We will provide pick-up student meals on Tuesday through Friday for those interested.
We are so sorry for how this inconveniences everyone, but we simply do not have enough adults or substitute teachers to keep having a normal school day. In addition we have more students out each day as the virus and other illnesses continue to spread. We have been in consultation with the Reno County Health Department as we go through this situation. Please, if you have questions, check our district webpage for more information. We will provide details as they become available. Thank you.
