QUARANTINE Changes from RCHD, Effective 12/4/2020: The new shortened quarantine is only for those people who show NO SYMPTOMS of the virus. First, you must get tested with a PCR test (the uncomfortable kind up your nose) on or after Day 5 of your exposure to COVID, and your test must be negative. You must provide proof of that negative test result to return on or after Day 7 of your exposure. If you choose NOT to get a test and remain symptom free for 10 full days, you can be released from quarantine after Day 10. Remember rapid tests, antigen, or antibody tests do not qualify for this shortened quarantine; it must be a PCR nasal test.

Attention ALL PK-12 Students, Parents, & Families:
This THURSDAY, December 3rd, will be an ALL-Remote Learning Day due to projected weather and road conditions. The buses will NOT run and all students will be expected to learn remotely from home. A sack lunch and breakfast for Thursday will be sent home with your student on Wednesday, with their devices and materials needed to do remote learning. Please make sure your student is online and zooming with their teachers at the appropriate times, especially for grades 4-12. They may check Google Classroom for the lesson times and assignments. Attendance and grades will be taken.
Also the FMS game on Thursday has been cancelled and will be rescheduled later. FHS Vo-Tech/HCTEA students will be expected to remote into their HCC classes on Thursday.
Please remember that this plan is for THURSDAY and not for tomorrow. We are just letting you know so that you can make plans in advance. If you do not have internet access at home, please call your child’s school office and we will provide a router for Thursday that will need to be returned on Friday. An All-Call with this information will go out tomorrow.

Watch FMS vs Lyons live beginning at 4:00: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fk6C66ONMA&feature=emb_title&ab_channel=FairfieldSchools

FMS basketball plays Lyons today at Fairfield. Games will begin at 4:00. We will honor 8th graders between the A team girls and A team boys game.

11/27/20 UPDATE - The situation continues to be serious in our county with 1,030 new virus cases and a PTR of 46.5%. At this point, we plan on having school on Monday and staying in our small cohort groups. If that changes, we will let you know via social media and an ALL CALL. Please do what you can to take action to help control the spread of the COVID virus: #1 Monitor yourself and your children for symptoms and stay home if you are sick or not feeling well. #2 Avoid the three C's (Closed Spaces with poor ventilation, Crowded Spaces, & Close Contact.) #3 Wear a face covering and wear it correctly, over nose and mouth. #4 Wash your hands often and disinfect surfaces regularly. #5 Maintain six feet or more of physical distance from others.

Due to KSHSAA's decision to not allow fans at winter sporting events, we will be holding 8th grade parents' night at the middle school basketball games on Monday, November 30.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our Fairfield Family, far and near!

Yesterday KSHSAA decided there will be NO spectators at middle or high school sporting events from December 1, 2020, until January 28, 2021. This doesn’t affect the FMS home games vs. Lyons on Monday, since it’s still in November. We will continue with the 3/4 ticket system for that game to keep fan numbers low. Also another KSHSAA decision was that there will be no sports competitions allowed between December 23, 2020, and January 7, 2021.

All basketball practices today at Fairfield are canceled due to the road conditions.

We had another individual at Fairfield test positive for Covid-19 late last Friday. The person had not been at school since Monday, 11/16/20, so only the individual's family and close contacts have been quarantined. We continue to work closely with the Reno County Health Department to guide us through each situation. Please continue to follow the guidelines to help stop the virus spread.

Monday is the last day to order shirts for the MS Boys Basketball team. we are 20 short of fulfilling our order total of 50. Please get those orders in ASAP!!!!!!

No activity buses will run this evening.

Next week we are off from school all week due to our Thanksgiving Break. The data released to schools today by the Reno County Health Department shares that we have 1,008 new, active cases in the past 14 days and a Positive Test Rate of 44%. Those numbers are certainly concerning. Enjoy your time and keep safe!
