Thanks goes out to Trooper Ben (@TrooperBenKHP) of the Kansas Highway Patrol for sharing his story with the faculty and staff at Fairfield USD #310 today. Trooper Ben Gardner spoke about the influence that teachers had upon him when he was in school and how they helped him move forward in his life. He also spoke about the importance of being attentive to what is going on around you. Thank you, Trooper Ben, for your message today. You inspired us to be extraordinary!

Today, three Fairfield employees were recognized for their contributions to the district and presented awards from BOE President Derek Zongker. The Fairfield Teacher of the Year is Mrs. Julie Steen, who teaches social science. Mrs. Steen was chosen by the Professional Development Council among applicants from students, parents, faculty, and staff. Also, two classified employees were named as Fairfield Classified Employees of the Year. They are Amy Riggs (BOE Clerk) and Tyler Eash (Director of Transportation.) These two received the most nominations from faculty, staff, students, and parents. We thank all three of these people for their excellent service to the students, staff, and patrons of our district!

It's the most wonderful time of the year! School starts next week and Fall sports are right around the corner! Make sure you are getting in contact with your coaches about upcoming practices, where those practices will be, and what equipment you will need before practice starts.

6th-12th grade students that did not come to enrollment, need to complete the Google Form named "2023-2024 enrollment" that was sent to their school emails. A copy of the 2023-2024 schedule was sent as a reference as well. Please complete this as soon as possible so we can get your schedules generated. Thank you.

We again have an art teacher at Fairfield (Ms. Katie Obholz) and we are very excited! Ms. Obholz wants to share the following: "The K-12 Art program would greatly appreciate your donation of hand-me-down t-shirts and button-ups. Donated shirts would be worn over existing clothing, similar to a smock, and would be used to help keep students clean during messy art activities." If you have extra shirts to share, please send them to the FES office. We can wash them as needed and have a way to help kids protect their clothes while painting and doing other things in class. THANKS!

There is a new way for Kansas families with limited financial resources to get help. It's called the Kansas Education Enrichment Program (KEEP) and it provides qualifying parents and guardians with $1,000 per eligible student to pay for a variety of educational goods and services, including: Camps for subjects that are related to academic/school curriculum; Language classes; Instrument and vocal lessons, including instrument purchase or rental; Tutoring services; Curriculum materials, school supplies, and various technology. Tuition and School Fees are not included in KEEP. Families across Kansas are invited to apply at www.keep.ks.gov. There is no cost to apply for or participate in the program, and parents and guardians can enroll multiple students in their households. Schools have been asked to encourage our communities to learn more about the program and apply at www.keep.ks.gov. There are also downloadable flyers available at that site online. KEEP is funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund (CSLFRF), allocated to the State of Kansas by the US Department of the Treasury. Please feel free to learn more about this resource.

This is an opportunity to meet the teachers and bring your school supplies early. We hope to see you there! (This event is not for Pre-Kindergarteners since they do not start until August 28th; those teachers will be reaching out to parents individually.)
