The Kansas State Department of Education will release its guidelines to the public this Thursday, July 16th at 12:30. A Fairfield committee composed of teachers, parents, Board of Education members, community members, and staff will be watching Dr. Watson’s zoom session together. Then afterwards we will start refining and editing our existing plan to match the KSDE recommendations. As soon as our plan is available, I will share it with you electronically. The KSDE document is 1078 pages, but we will do our best to follow each recommendation. It’s our goal to do everything we can to keep children as safe as possible. Your Board of Education is committed to this goal and spent considerable time last night discussing aspects of our reopening plan. Please know that we are doing everything we can in an uncertain time. There will also be a parent survey posted soon so you can share how you feel at this point. Thanks for your support and patience in a difficult time. Betsy McKinney, USD #310 Superintendent

The question has been posed, "WHAT ABOUT SCHOOL THIS FALL?" The answer is that Fairfield is set to open on August 19th for our official first day of school, and we are working hard to make sure our campus and practices are as safe as possible. Working alongside of us are the following groups: Reno County Health Department, Kansas Department of Health & Environment, Kansas State Department of Education, Kansas State High School Activities Association, Reno County Superintendent's Council, and the Center for Disease Control. As the plan develops, we will share more with all you. Thanks for your continued support of our district!

Congratulations to our FFA students Paisley Smyth and Serena Chantra. Serena was third overall in the state in Employability Skills where she was judged on job interview skills and resume writing. Paisley was sixth in Creed Speaking; she recited the FFA creed and shared her understanding of the creed by answering questions. Congratulations to these students and also others who participated, along with their sponsor Mary Beth Fulk.
