Fairfield Board Makes Handbook Changes

There has been a policy change in the 2018-2019 Fairfield Student Handbook. The changes are outlined below.

The Former Policy was as follows (on page 20): Under “Disciplinary Actions,”  it stated,“The following consequences will be given to any student found making, selling, giving, using, or having tobacco, alcohol, or illegal drugs.” It then listed only “Tobacco” as the heading for the category.

As of 10/8/18 the New Policy States: “The following consequences will be given to any student found making, selling, giving, using, or having tobacco/nicotine, alcohol, or illegal drugs. This includes the products and devices accompanying the use of such substances. Also the category heading on page 20 will change to: Tobacco or Nicotine Products/Devices.

The bold print portions above are the additions/changes in our school policy. Please change your personal copies of the handbook. The Fairfield USD #310 Board of Education approved this handbook change on Monday, October 8, 2018. The change was made in order to cover the consequences of student use/possession of electronic cigarettes (Juuls, Vaping, etc.) while on campus or at school events. Please discuss this change with your students. If you have questions, please contact a Fairfield administrator.
