Wente

On Thursday, May 4th, FHS traveled to the William Crosby Invitational in Pretty Prairie to compete with 8 other schools in high school track. Both the boys and girls placed fourth overall, but where Fairfield athletes really stood out was in the boys’ shot put and discus events. In shot put, Zack Zongker again took the gold, while Calen Wente won the bronze and Garrett Lanning took fourth place. In the discus, Calen Wente won the gold with Zack Zongker taking the silver and Garrett Lanning throwing for sixth place. These young men have dominated these events for almost every meet of the season.

Other medal winners at the Crosby Invitation include Paisley Smyth and Centhiyah Bankston, who took gold and silver medals in the long jump. Mikayla Pugh won the silver in the 800m run. Luella Gard won a bronze medal in the triple jump while Centhiyah Bankston also won a bronze in the 100m hurdles. Brodie Snodgrass took third in the boys’ Long Jump.

Other achievements in the top six places include some of our relay teams. The girls’ 4x100m Relay team took third place and was composed of Rhylee Haskins, Centhiyah Bankston, Marissa Pugh, and Abigail Lofton. The girls’ 4x400m Relay Team also took the bronze, composed of Erin Schwertfeger, Mikayla Pugh, Centhiyah Bankston, and Luella Gard. Also winning third place was the boys’ 4x800m Relay was the team of Jarod Bauman, Azeke Cochran, Mason Kalmar, and Gage Brown.
